I like how they changed the four brothers (we havent seen the fifth one yet) into honest and humble cultivators who only thinks about helping others and each other, the novel had two males and two females that were only looking out for themselves and had to be blackmailed by Han Li to work for him. One of the women betrayed the group, earning her a painful death as she was cursed
Looks like Han Li will be getting reinforcements

Fightik • 2 years ago

During a conversation between the Mengshan Brothers and Han Li, one of them said that even though they are supposed to be Five Mengshan Brothers, they are still looking for the fifth brother.

Now I'm not sure if they mean that they are 5 biological brothers and one is just lost somewhere, or that they are 4 men who call themselves brothers due to the bond they built during their travels.

Dase • 2 years ago

Ahh I must have missed that conversation. Most likely sworn brothers from the Meng mountains, since they call themselves Mengshan Wuyou (Mount Meng Five Friends)

Dase • 2 years ago

yourmom420 I read the chapters that related to this again and yeah the studio made some changes, in the novel yeah it was Five Friends of Meng Mountain, three men and two women, after the youngest woman betrayed Han Li and the group, it became Four Friends of Meng Mountain
But since the donghua is different, it doesnt matter anymore lol

yourmom420 • 2 years ago

lol yup but change is good since you read it already it gives you a fresh approach on the Donghua.

Dase • 2 years ago

Mhm, most importantly the donghua adaption is better than the novel lol, it isnt as boring or slow paced

yourmom420 • 2 years ago

Yeah it has a good mix of story character development and action. with a sprinkle of romance lol. well goodnight my friend enjoy your day or night

Dase • 2 years ago

night ^_^

yourmom420 • 2 years ago

as Fightik mentioned in a previous episode they are looking for the fifth brother. they also said the fifth brother doesn't exist so they made Han Li the fifth brother I'm 80% sure. it was the episode when he removed the curse and they were all talking

Dase • 2 years ago

I see, this wasnt in the novel which is why I dont have much recollection of it lol
I read novels a few times from start to finish then re-read it but specific chapters where I like, when Han Li "rescues" Nangong Wan from being married to someone else or when he fights certain people
They did make a lot of changes, but in a good way, the novel was way too long and too boring, not everyone's cup of tea

Dase • 2 years ago

Ok correction two women and three men, called the Five Friends of Meng Mountain, after the youngest woman betrayed the group it was called the Four Friends of Meng Mountain

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

I'm suspicious of the evil sect leader, he might eat/absorb Tieluo (1 armed guy who Hanli defeated) and use his energy to grow stronger, possibly help boost him to the next breakthrough. He looks like the type to do some shii like that, claiming he wants to "help heal"
Tieluo lol.

Those evil sect members look strong, especially the quiet one Ye She that looks like a necromancer or undead frankenstein type monster. Hanli better cultivate his butt off in the next few months, he needs to have a serious breakthrough if he's going to fight these new guys.

Dase • 2 years ago

Han Li's master is sending him reinforcement, so he wont be fighting alone

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

I want to read the spoiler so bad but sorry I couldn't, good thing you used a spoiler tag though. I might break and end up reading it anyway aha smh.

Dase • 2 years ago

Episode 17 came out already so it is safe to read the spoiler tags in my above post lol

Well, all of those guys save their leader are at foundation establishment stage, same as Han Li. One guy on the wall was initial foundation and the other guy was early foundation. With Han Li's methods he is more than a match for anyone at the same cultivation level, but their master is getting ready to break through to core formation, so that means he is currently late foundation or grand perfection of foundation...so Han Li is no match for him no matter what he does. No amount of cultivation will get Han Li across this huge gulf in a few months. He would need about 200 years if I am not mistaken. That is why the reinforcements are needed.

Generally speaking each realm has 3 or 4 stages: early, middle, late and sometimes great perfection (or grand circle) stage. Initial stage likely means he just crossed the threshold to foundation so that one guy on the wall is not quite as strong as an "early foundation" stage cultivator.

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

200 freaking years, no way!!

Well that's gives me much more insight on the situation now and how serious this is. There has to be casualties for sure then smh.

And thanks for letting the info on the evil sect leader's subordinates, at least Han Li can survive them.

yourmom420 • 2 years ago

Han Li is only in his twenties and already in middle stage. highly doubtful it will take him 200 years to reach the peak of foundation stage.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

To be exact it took him 127 years to reach core formation and 217 to reach nascent soul. That is considered extremely fast.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

Do you remember the very 1st episode? Season one, episode one? Do you remember the wacky beginning battle with some kind of dragon on an island in the sea? Only then after that opening scene did they show Han Li as a poor starving 7 year old child. Well, that scene in the 1st episode was Han Li in the future and he was in a far away place in the sea and it was almost 200 years in the future and Han Li was a core formation expert at that time. Its weird because I don't know why they put that scene in there. It was not the 1st chapter of the novel...it was much much later. So the anime/donghua is being approached as a memory of Han Li's childhood leading up to that time. I suppose in the novel he did wistfully remember his early days, but that scene is by no means the end of his power or of the novel. It goes on and on and on while Han Li is cultivating immortality and improving his power.

yourmom420 • 2 years ago

Han Li is only in his twenties and already in middle stage. I highly doubt your claims

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

Well, I didn't want to get too specific and be accused of spoiling, but it takes Han Li precisely 127 years to reach core formation and that is considered extremely, ridiculously fast. He broke into initial foundation at age 26. So, it took him 101 years to progress from foundation to core formation.

TRD-MR2 • 2 years ago

Was thinking the exact same.

Brutalix • 2 years ago

Isnt the evil sect leader whom jus abt to break thru to Core stage which is just 1 stage higher than foundation stage only alittle low to be able to control 4 foundation experts?

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

Apparently there's a 200 year strength gap between the evil sect leader and his subordinates, and now about to breakthrough means he's even more dangerous.

Brutalix • 2 years ago

Then would that means Han Li would need that long a time to advance to next realm of cultivation?

Abah Joseph • 2 years ago

We're really thinking alike man. Hanli needs to work hard for the coming battle.

Smiley Face • 2 years ago

Why would he need to? His master sent reinforcements, his seniors who are much stronger are coming, did you miss that part?

Dase • 2 years ago

It's probably more of they want to see Han Li be able to beat up the evil sect guys than seeing reinforcements come and help Han Li lol

Abah Joseph • 2 years ago

Hanli is our MC man, we want him to be strong enough to beat this guys, while not revealing himself, making other people look down on him Lol. but then, i know he requested backup too.

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

Yeah, because if he wants to make it out alive then he needs more cultivation progress, I guess we're not the only thinking that, the MC is too lol.

rax pup • 2 years ago

I agree with you

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

Now all we can do is wait.

Lol I literally said as I was watching the scene, " welp he's a goner" cause the way their master said it. All devious and untrustworthy like, like bruh knew he done fck up by getting defeated, and losing in such a shameful and pathetic way. You know that shit dont fly with evil masters lol.

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

Lmao yo they really do be so devious, like failure is NOT an option and deserves punishment, which is brutal beatings if not death smh.

douluo • 2 years ago

I just love the naturalness of the dialogue and Han Li's inner monologues--it feels more like cinema than anime. Kinda Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon(ish). One of kind, that's for sure...

PerfectingBad • 2 years ago

ahhhh no more brothers,,,,,,, thats sus, they were a very intresting characters tbh

Marty McFly • 1 year ago

16:12 Yeah, getting gang raped is never a bad thing!(Which is really what happens when a female is captured by another army)

Pakray M • 3 months ago

It is?
Is that what we were doing to Iraqi women?
No wonder they shout Death To America!

Marty McFly • 3 months ago

That would be a big NO! They were shouting Death To America before we ever got there. There were some, sadly to say, but there are always bad actors in every group. It was not the norm. I was referring to female combatants, who by the way, would fare much better if captured by our military than ours captured by their's .

Pakray M • 3 months ago

Please don't look up Abu Ghraib prison photos Marty.
You don't want your delusions of us, being the "good guys" to shatter now. Do you?

Marty McFly • 3 months ago

Yeah, whatever Abu Ghraib, yadda yadda! You can do your I hate the USA, we suck, BS all you want. I don't give a shlt! It still has nothing to do with my comment!

Pakray M • 3 months ago

Just sit on your comment and keep it warm buddy.
Also; I love America. Who said I hate US

Am i missing a part when did the Tielou guy Get bound by HanLi and cut his arm off to Flee or did the Show just Skip it cause i went back an the Show before this one ended with Tielou getting a barrage of energy blast's from Han Li Treasure Talisman .... Am i right is that the final scene everyone else saw as well ..?? Do i just Fill in the blanks with my imagination

Sung Jin Woo • 1 year ago

yes dont kick them i like this four, they way they fight

Dudimus Prime • 2 years ago

I feel bad for the brothers. I feel like Han Li could have given them a rec for his sect, or something. They weren't talentless, and he clearly thought they could keep growing, or wouldn't have given them pills. They even held off, as a group of 4, a quite-tough Middle-Stage Foundation Realm demon dude.

Just seems cheap to "part ways" the way he did, they definitely could have remained allies, and if he was worried for their well-being, he could've brought them to the safety of his sect.
